NOTES / BIO | A musical instrument dealer and shop owner based in Manchester. Claimed to be a maker of instruments in advertisements for his shop. Lütgendorff claimed that Woodney was a viola maker and that he had seen a good viola made by him. Morris has him listed in his violin makers dictionary as active in the 19th century. So far only one violin and one cello bearing the stamp H Woodney, Manchester are known to exist. The cello is almost certainly a German import. |
