IK Arellano González was born in 1997 in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico, into a family deeply connected to music and the arts: his father, an ethnomusicologist, artist, and luthier; his mother, a psychologist and amateur pianist. From an early age, he grew up surrounded by instruments, sounds, and workshops, which nurtured his fascination with musical craftsmanship. At the age of fifteen, he took his first steps in lutherie by assisting his father in building ethnic instruments.

In 2015, he moved to Querétaro to enroll at the Escuela de Laudería del INBAL, where he began his formal training in violin making under the guidance of professors José Antonio Ontiveros and Marvin Salgado. There, he developed a strong theoretical, practical, and scientific foundation in lutherie, combining artisanal tradition with academic knowledge.

Two years later, driven by the desire to immerse himself in the classical Italian tradition, he relocated to Cremona, the cradle of violin making. He was admitted to the prestigious Scuola Internazionale di Liuteria “A. Stradivari”, studying under the masters Luca Bellini and Angelo Sperzaga, and refining his varnishing techniques with Davide Sora. He graduated as a violin maker in 2020.

That same year, he began a new chapter by pursuing a Master’s degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the Università di Pavia, specializing in musical and scientific instruments. Throughout his studies, he learned from internationally renowned experts such as Bob Van de Kerckhove, Tom Wilder, Andrew Dipper, Bernard Neumann, and Claudio Amighetti. His academic journey concluded in 2025 with a professional training stage at the Musée de la Musique – Cité de la Musique, Paris, consolidating a career that bridges the traditions of violin making with the conservation of cultural heritage.
